Cooperation, joint Italy – Rwanda Committee meeting at COP 28 in Dubai

Fonte immagine: MASEDubai, December 8, 2023 – The meeting of the Joint Committee, led by MoU, between the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, (MASE), and the Ministry of the Environment of Rwanda, was held on December 8, on the sidelines of COP 28. The Committee met in Dubai for the second time in the MoU framework, renewed in 2021, which extended the cooperation relationship between the two administrations already started in 2016 for 5 further years. 

During the meeting, the MoU work plan was approved which, based on the most urgent environmental and climate challenges that Rwanda faces, identifies priority objectives and areas of action for bilateral cooperation including, for example, the promotion of clean cooking facilities, but also the preservation of humid areas, in continuity with what was achieved during the previous five-year period. In the name of continuity, and with the aim of ensuring always effective support for the implementation of Rwanda's sustainable development agenda, the Committee also approved a technical assistance project worth over 450 thousand Euros to be entrusted to the Global Green Growth Institute, (GGGI). The intergovernmental organization, present in over 40 countries around the world, has supported Rwanda's green growth for years also thanks to the financial support of MASE. The three-year initiative will focus on some priority areas of intervention for Rwanda, including green buildings, urban wetlands, climate resilience of rural settlements.
