DUBAI, DECEMBER 8 2023 – The first meeting of the Joint Committee guiding the new Memorandum of Understanding, (MoU), between the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, (MASE), and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Democratic Republic of Congo, was held on December 8, on the sidelines of COP 28 in Dubai .
The Committee, meeting in Dubai as part of the MoU signed on March 23, 2023 on the sidelines of the United Nations Conference on Water, approved the Rules of Procedure, Internal Regulations of the Joint Committee, (the governing body established by the MoU), which defines its functioning and The Guiding Principles of the Bilateral Cooperation Mechanism, which establish procedures and rules for the presentation of project proposals, and for their implementation.
The Sustainable Development Goals, underlying current and future projects, aim to improve the management of water resources, promote access to sustainable, renewable and efficient energy, encourage sustainable consumption and production patterns, strengthen and coordinate efforts to address global climate change and its adverse effects, protect, restore and enhance the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems.
