Jordan

The Italian Ministry and the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF) - a fund created within the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources - signed a Technical Agreement in Rome, in 2018, for cooperation in the field of climate change adaptation and mitigation. In 2019, an Installation of Solar PV Systems for Municipalities in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan project was approved, this involves the installation of photovoltaic systems in public buildings of Jordanian municipalities.

Allocation: 3 million Euros, integrable
Intervention areas:

• Promotion and development of initiatives in the field of renewable energies and energy efficiency to achieve the objective established by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the Nationally Determined Contributions for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, (NDC): the activities will mainly focus on the industrial, tourism, domestic and public construction, (schools and hospitals).

• Support to the JREEEF to increase its capacity to manage the financial and commercial aspects related to the environmental economy, and its skills in project implementation and international networking; this support will also be provided through the exchange and transfer of knowledge and skills.

•Raising awareness on energy efficiency and renewable energy issues.
• Promotion of new technologies capable of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and favoring adaptation processes, due also to the development of the Italian experience.
