On January 28^th , 2016, the Italian Ministry for the Environment and the Ministry of the Environment of the Republic of Qatar have undersigned a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of vulnerability to climate change, risk assessment, adaptation and mitigation.

The aim of the Memorandum is to enhance and coordinate the cooperation in order to face the impact of climate change and to improve the ability to assess the environmental risk at the national level.

The two countries will collaborate in the following areas of common interest:
• capacity building for monitoring and reporting on climate issues, such as mitigation and adaptation;
• contrast to soil degradation;
• low-carbon technologies;
• clean and efficient energy;
• raising awareness campaigns on mitigation and adaptation to climate change;
• technical cooperation and information exchange.

As part of these activities, the Republic of Italy will ensure technical assistance, institutional strengthening and will facilitate the opportunities for entry to the Qatar local market of the Italian companies operating in the green economy sectors.
