September 27, 2021 - Sixth meeting of the Joint Committee

VTC, September 27, 2021 – In the sixth meeting of the Joint Committee, held by videoconference, the negotiation of the new Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of sustainable development was started, the areas affected by this new cooperation will be multiple:

• Development of measures for mitigation, adaptation and improvement of resilience to climate change; support for implementation, monitoring and   reporting on the progress of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs);
• Collection, analysis and dissemination of the methodology, for observing and measuring the impact of climate change on potentially vulnerable sectors;
• Improved on risk assessment and disaster management;
• Protection of biodiversity and reduction of environmental degradation;
• Promotion of sustainable resources management;
• Promotion of sustainable and integrated land use;
• Guarantee of sustainable and integrated water management;
• Technology transfer and professional development in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector;
• Sustainable waste management and circular economy development;
• Development of education and awareness campaigns on climate change and sustainable development;
• Strengthening public participation and exchange of new practices on environmental assessment.
